About Capacity Management
The Capacity Management process is responsible for ensuring that the correct capacity is delivered at the proper moment and at the right price, in accordance with the business's requirements now and in the future. This is ensured through a continual commitment to Service Level Agreements (SLA), where the level of the infrastructure's capacity is specified.

The advantages of the Capacity Management process are:
  • The capacity is exploited in the economically most effective way - and investments are thereby deferred
  • The various services are developed so that they can meet the business's requirements and any possible changes in the future
  • Fewer capacity-related errors occur
  • The capacity work is driven by the goals specified in the SLA and continuous reporting is ensured
  • There is a progression from a reactive to a proactive process
  • Customers and users are far more satisfied when capacity-planning functions optimally
